On Saturday 25 November Heathfield’s annual St Nicholas’ Stalls Christmas fair took place. Following Heathfield tradition, Carol singing signalled the start of the fair with Headmistress Sarah Rollings formally opening the doors together with the youngest student in the school, Anaya (Form I), to the great excitement of students, their families, staff and Old Girls.
With over 30 independent local business stall holders attracting buyers with their array of goods in the Sports Hall, the four House stalls found themselves inundated with Christmas shoppers and supporters. All the Houses worked hard to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities: Austen – Sarcoma UK, de Valois – Macmillan Cancer Support, Seacole – Food4Children (Ascot) and Somerville – Great Ormond Street Hospital. In addition to the stalls, Houses held competitions, raffles, a Krispy Kreme sale, Splat the Teacher, and created a Santa’s Grotto thanks to the many donations from the students’ families and friends.
Meanwhile, the HPA (Heathfield Parents’ Association) stalls proved very popular with one stall selling second hand uniform and the other offering a staggering array of baked goods, mulled wine, hot chocolate and fresh popcorn. It all looked fantastic!
Other refreshments in the form of a mobile coffee trailer and hot food provided by Thomas Franks ensured that all our visitors left satisfied! A very big thank you to everyone, including our HPA, who helped make this event such a success.
