Whilst the judging was taking place, the audience heard some of the staff offerings. The staff choices were as varied as those of the girls with Miss McSweeney’s enthusiastically delivered and engaging maths poem, Mr Johnson’s interpretation of Sylvia Plath and a deep, emotional reading of The Green Fields of France by Mrs Heywood with musical accompaniment.
All girls did their Houses proud but a special mention must go to Form I winner Clemmie of De Valois who moved the audience with a profound recital of Rossetti’s Remember, Amber of Somerville for Form II whose vibrant performance of Pam Eyre’s I Wish I Looked After Me Teeth had the audience laughing and Frances of Somerville who was the Form III winner with a bold performance of The Jabberwocky. The Declamation was deservedly won overall by Amber of De Valois in Form III who wowed the auditorium with a stunning and vivid recital of Thunderbirds.
An enjoyable afternoon was had by all and the audience left with their appreciation very much enriched by such fantastic performances.
