On 2 July, Form 1 and a number of Lower Sixth students were involved in the UN model day. This consisted of the year groups collaborating in an activity to learn about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and how they affect developing countries. They were all allocated a country, and the aim was to persuade the United Nations Security Council to select their country by presenting an argument as to why the Sustainable Development Goal that their group had chosen was the best idea compared to the other countries.
During the day, they prepared a presentation, a model showing their goal and a string flag bunting. We also had a guest speaker, Paul Finnis, who has not only worked for the UN but also for several charities. All year groups thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it helped them to develop their research and creativity skills.
