In February, we celebrated Heathfield’s founding, 126 years ago. With lessons in the morning, students enjoyed the delicious lunch they had voted for and then settled in the theatre to listen to a talk by Claire Danson, professional cyclist. In the summer of 2019, just weeks after being crowned European Triathlon Champion, Claire collided with a tractor whilst out training. In an instant her future was transformed from professional triathlete to life in a wheelchair. Claire tells the incredible story of surviving devastating injuries and her determination and commitment as she trained for the Paralympics as a member of the British Cycling team and beyond. Claire’s key messages to the audience were to give everything a go, be your friends’ cheerleader, aim high and celebrate the small wins along the way.
After an energetic, competitive and fun game involving the whole school, we are being treated to a variety of entertaining performances in Heathfield’s Got Talent, which will no doubt showcase a wonderful display of diverse talents in both students and staff!
