Students studying Spanish in Forms III, IV and V visited Córdoba in southern Spain—the only city in the world with four UNESCO World Heritage Designations: The Cathedral-Mosque, Historic Center, Patios Festival and Medina Azahara.
All the students were enthusiastic and demonstrated genuine interest in the culture, architecture, art and history that make Córdoba so famous. They sampled the diverse array of dishes that the city has to offer, with its cuisine influenced by the various civilizations that have inhabited the region. Additionally, they enjoyed a tour of La Judería, the Historic Center.
More importantly, the students took every opportunity to practice their language skills and actively participated in all the activities. On the final night, they bid farewell to Córdoba by attending a Flamenco show, where they had the opportunity to dance and showcase the skills they had been practicing in an after-school club. It was a delight to take this group to my hometown.
