The charity provides much needed respite for young carers, aged 5-12 years, at Honeypot House, its residential centre in the New Forest. Here twelve children at a time, six girls and six boys, can enjoy normal childhood activities like riding a bike, learning to swim or just having the freedom to play without the need to worry for the first time. Honeypot also supports vulnerable children who are victims of abuse or neglect. Furthermore, their Playbus forms part of their outreach service, visiting children within their own communities and offering all kinds of activities. One of the things that makes Honeypot unique is its programme of long-term support, providing a lifeline to children who are having to cope with very difficult challenges, and enabling them to form friendships with others who are in a similar situation.
Hearing about the amazing work done by The Honeypot Children’s Charity, as well as the heart-rending stories of some of the children who have benefited from their support, was incredibly moving. As a result of our fundraising efforts to date, we were thrilled to be able to present Honeypot with a cheque for £935.00 and their presentation certainly gave us the incentive to continue to raise much needed funds for such a worthy cause.
