Throughout the afternoon a hum of excitement was spreading as we got closer to the arrival of the ‘Rothwell’ band. Liberty and Tansy from Form II alongside Daisy and Olamide in LVI warmed up the crowd with their rendition of the Cup Song, while Farah played ‘the plant pot.’ Rothwell played for just over an hour and the highlight was when Miss Rothwell joined the stage. The general consensus was that Joel, Nathan and Nathan were ‘incredible’ and we can only hope they can make the long journey from Manchester to Ascot again soon. On Sunday morning the girls were up with the larks as they headed out to Lacrosse Camp. That afternoon we hosted an Interhouse Wipeout Challenge which saw girls compete to conquer leaping across the ‘Big Red Balls’, Surf to ’99 points’, Bungee, and Chicken Wrestle against opposite Houses. Emmy (Form IV) and Anna F (Form V) both scored the highest Bungees of the afternoon with De Valois winning this challenge, Olympia (Form V) and Clemmie (Form II) from De Valois both surfed to ‘99’ and Somerville House were crowned Champion ‘Chicken Wrestlers’ and had the greatest number within the House to make it safely over the Red Balls. Thanks to the LVI for their fabulous enthusiasm and the De Valois Staff and Housemistresses for their excellent help and support over the weekend.
