Meals at Heathfield
Heathfield pupils eat all of their meals in our dining room, which is well lit and spacious and forms a relaxing environment for them to enjoy a self-service style experience. It is our priority to ensure each pupil, regardless of her food preferences, can enjoy a variety of freshly prepared meal options at every meal time.
Our caterers carefully source fresh, sustainable produce, locally sourced wherever possible and cook all dishes on-site. Menus are on a three week cycle for breakfast, lunch and supper and there are both morning and afternoon breaks with a variety of fresh fruit always available in the dining room. There are five chefs at Heathfield, managed by Thomas Franks, and the standard is always high in both quality and presentation. Girls with special diets are catered for and there is a school food council which meets termly to discuss new options, theme days and give feedback to the caterers. Menus are a combination of healthy options with beautiful salads, deli and fruit bars, homemade puddings and traditional family favourites and international cuisine – nutritional food designed to fuel productivity and enhance concentration.
There are several important occasions throughout the school year in which the girls are involved in a more formal dining set-up, including House Dinners and Sports Awards. In addition the Headmistress hosts dinners for our Upper Sixth girls.
The catering department also cooks for parents’ evenings, open days, match teas, concerts and socials. You can be assured that the food you eat at these events is just as good as the meals enjoyed by your daughters every day of the week.
