Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which this year fell during half term, so to make sure that we all had a holy start to Lent there was a service of imposition of ashes on the first morning back. The theme of the service was ‘Dust & Ash’. Although these two substances are very similar they remind us of two very separate aspects of our faith. Dust is the substance from which God made us, and one day this earthly body will return to dust and our souls, God willing, will return to Him. The Ash is created from the palm crosses from last year to remind us of our fickle nature: at times we proclaim Christ and at others we reject him. May you have a blessed Lent.
