After a hot and successful Sports Day, nine LVI students boarded a minibus for the drive to Talybont Farm campsite in the Brecon Beacons. Here, they set up for the night, ready for their Gold Qualifying Expedition the next day.

Day 1: The teams, The Goats (Tilly, Sarah, TJ and Birdie) and the Brecon Bombas (Allegra, Scarlett, Freya, Lala and Martha), started from Talybont Reservoir to trek to Dolygaer Outdoor Education Centre. They climbed Fan-y-Big (719m) and covered 16km before camping.

Day 2: The teams left early for an 18km trek, reaching 886m at Pen-Y-Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecons. The descent took them to Blaenglyn Farm via the Storey Arms Centre.

Day 3: The teams climbed 632m up Fan Llia, enjoying spectacular panoramic views. Reaching Bryn-Bwch Farm, they ended another 15km day.

Day 4: The final day brought rain and high winds, but the teams pushed on to Craig-y-Nos Country Park, completing their expedition.

Congratulations to all the girls for their resilience and determination. Their team spirit was indomitable.
