As ever, the staff attendance was high and yet again the marvellous standard of mature contemporary work showing a diverse range of skills and thinking was praised by parents and staff alike. The skills included painting, textiles, ceramics, photography, printing, mixed media and video. The brief descriptions in each area really helped viewers understand the artists’ intentions and added to the appreciation. Some girls’ work really showed the beauty that surrounds us while others chose to engage with contemporary issues, or encouraged us to question what we see and not make assumptions. It was a truly aesthetic experience that touched our minds and hearts.
This year a small treasure hunt was added amongst the GCSE work for the girls in Forms I to IV. This encouraged them to learn some new vocabulary and ways of seeing. Our thanks go to the catering team for all the refreshments, and to all involved in this special event.
