Teachers made themselves available to support girls and there was an atmosphere of calm. On Saturday morning teams of girls went off early to St Mary’s, Ascot for an athletics meet while others got their prep done. At break Form I rushed upstairs to change ready for an exciting trip to the members’ enclosure at Windsor Horse Show. There was much excitement as they hoped to see our team compete, but sadly they could not stay for this as they needed to get back for their overnight guests, next year’s Form I girls. Nevertheless it was a great experience enjoyed by all.
After lunch Form II headed for the Wilde Theatre at South Hill Park to see a version of Ruddygore directed by Mrs Dance, and they managed to spot Mr Pithers in the chorus. The trip was enjoyed by all.
Our new girls arrived in time for tea with Form I and this was followed by a treasure hunt around the school site, a barbecue outside with the rest of the school and a very lively disco in the Assembly Hall which saw girls from every year group letting their hair down and dancing with great energy and enthusiasm. It was a joy to see the whole school round up the day with an impromptu game of rounders, to include anybody who was interested, on the lax pitch before being called up to bed by their housemistresses.
On Sunday after Chapel Form I waved goodbye to their guests before practising their cricket skills on the lax pitch in preparation for a great match against Sunningdale School followed by tea in the afternoon. The rest of the school either continued with study or headed for the coach for a fabulous day out which started with a picnic by the sea and walking from Hove to Brighton. They then enjoyed terrific weather as they had fun on the pier or strolled around the many quirky shops in the famous lanes.
The lovely sunny weather was enjoyed by all and our thanks go to the staff who gave up their free time to make it all such a great success.
