On Tuesday 26 April we hosted our Prep Schools’ Choir Competition in the Theatre and welcomed 140 pupils from Cottesmore, Coworth Flexlands, Eton End, Elstree, Highfield, St Piran’s and Upton House along with their parents who came to watch.
Everyone was amazed at the high standard of singing and the diversity of the songs from The Welcome Table to Let’s Go Fly a Kite. We are extremely grateful to our fantastic three judges: Richard Furstenheim, Director of Music at the Royal Chapel; Nick Haworth, Composer and Musician and Natalie Shaw, Principal of NVSDD who gave the choirs extremely valuable and helpful feedback on their individual performances.
The choirs really enjoyed the rare opportunity to take a trip out of school to perform and to learn from other schools’ performances. Whilst the judges deliberated, the audience was enthralled by a performance from Heathfield Senior Choir and Top 12 and enjoyed joining in the actions with the Form I Choir.
The judges had to make some tough decisions when deciding on a winner as the standard of singing across all the schools was extremely high. The coveted Heathfield Prep School Choral Competition trophy was awarded to the fantastic choir from Upton House School and the runner-up to Coworth Flexlands.
