The first weekend of October saw Form IV embark on their Assessed Expedition for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Following a briefing by the Assessor, the girls set off from Mortimer, Berkshire. The weather started with a light drizzle but unfortunately, as the day continued it became a heavy downpour. However, the girls were not discouraged and simply put on their waterproofs.
By the time they had reached their camping spot Antler Field in Wellington Country Park the rain had reduced enough for the girls to be able to put up their tents up and cook some supper. The girls were even joined by a few extra visitors from the resident Deer Herd. By early morning the girls were up cooking warm food and drinks and setting about tidying and packing up.
Day two could not have been more of a contrast as the sun shone and it was a thoroughly pleasant day to continue the walk. Navigating from the park along an old Roman road, negotiating around fords and through lakes was challenging at times but everyone made it to the finishing point at Horseshoe Lake.
We are pleased to say that all the Form IV girls passed their Assessment.
