Photography Trip to Florence

Photography, Trip to FlorenceAfter a short history lesson about the bridge and the famous Medici family, we all had our own romantic Valentine’s Day supper in groups. There was an early start on Saturday with a coach ride to a beautiful medieval town set into the Tuscan hillside, San Gimignano. Here we took pictures for our exam projects and saw a different side to Italian life, a complete contrast to the busier city of Florence. After having a delicious lunch in the sunshine we then left for Siena. Our experience of Siena began with a walk up a really steep hill which left everyone out of breath. However, an ice cream soon fixed that! Siena is a beautiful city and we all managed to successfully capture further photo shoots as well as enjoy some time to ourselves exploring the shops and culture! On our way home we made our way to Florence stopping at the Piazzale Michelangelo to take nightscapes of the Duomo and surrounding Florence. On Sunday we gathered all our project research when we visited the Gallerie dell’ Accademia to see the statue of David and later on in the afternoon met up at the Uffizi to see Boticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ and ‘Primavera’. However, in between gallery visits, with much effort, we climbed the 414 steps of the bell tower (Campanile) of the Cathedral to photograph the amazing views of Florence. What spectacular sights! On the last night we all ate dinner together, dining in a traditional Italian restaurant before packing in preparation for our return to England. This was a fantastic and enjoyable trip!
